Our Nickel Plated and Brushed Nickel Bathroom Products

We can take almost any chrome plated metal item that we sell and re-plate it in polished or brushed nickel. To do this the item is first disassembled, the chrome is then stripped off with a reverse electroplating process and the item is nickel plated before being polished and/or brushed and finally reassembled. Polished nickel, sometimes also called bright nickel, has the same high level of reflection that polished chrome has but has the subtle hint of gold colour in it that is typical of nickel. Brushed nickel also sometimes called dull nickel is polished nickel that is then 'brushed', this dulls the surface with thousands of very fine scratches giving it a matt finish.

There are some things that we cannot re-plate in nickel, or that we can't brush once plated. We can't nickel plate plated plastic items as the heat created in the plating process can damage the plastic. We can't re-plate trim for shower enclosures as they are too large to fit in the nickel plating tanks. We can't brush some soft metals, most notably whilst we can re-plate in polished nickel the wall brackets that hold up Burlington WC throne seat and the same brackets used to hold the low and high level Burlington WC cisterns on the wall, we can't brush them as they are made from a soft metal that gets damaged by the brushing process.

Finally some bathrooms accessories have brand names and other details engraved onto metal, for example some of the Burlington bathroom accessories have this, these can be finished in polished nickel with no problem but if they are finished in brushed nickel then the brushing can degrade the engraving and make it less legible.

In my opinion nickel is a nice finish but brushed nickel is really beautiful. The matt finish of brushed nickel is more distinctively different from chrome and does not have that 'bling' effect, rather it has a kind of understated classiness, that on the one hand isn't too showy but on the other will have your guests saying 'Wow, I love your taps!".
